Three Points to Consider when Buying a Makeup Mirror

The easiest way to hide your facial blemishes is applying makeup. Once you learn how to apply makeup, there is one more thing left to do. This is buying a makeup or cosmetic mirror. Although you can use bulb light or natural sunlight to apply makeup, a makeup mirror does a better job.  It magnifies your face and produces a clearer image than a typical mirror. What’s more, a cosmetic mirror reveals all beautify flaws so you could cover them.  As there are many products to choose from, take the time to do it. Here are 3 factors you need to consider.

Magnifying strength

A cosmetic mirror should have a magnification range. Some items have a 1X 5X magnification while others offer a 1X 7X magnification. There are even some mirrors that produce up to 10X magnifying strength. It is up to the customer to decide the mirror they can afford to buy.

The structure of a cosmetic mirror is everything. No matter how attractive a makeup mirror looks, you just cannot afford to pick a flimsy one.  It will be a total junk in just three months of consistent use. Numerous items are circular shaped and have a metal frame and stable base. They are designed to sit on the vanity top or another flat surface. If a circular mirror is too common, you could try choosing an oval-shaped mirror. There are even rectangular shaped mirrors with a vertical alignment.

Since there are many brands out there, you can expect to find all kinds of makeup mirrors. Hence, there are some mirrors that will be so sophisticated that you will find them cumbersome or hard to use. Even though these might look classier, leave them alone. You are better off with a lightweight, portable mirror that you can utilize without a problem.  What’s more, you should consider the source of the mirror’s energy. Is it a pack of tiny rechargeable batteries or electric power? The latter is cool but most women do not like cords. If you do not like the clutter that cords create, by all means choose the cordless makeup mirror.

Source of lighting

The soft glow that will radiate and warm your face may come from LED bulbs, incandescent bulbs or fluorescent bulbs.  It goes without saying that the most modern type of lighting is LED. If you want makeup application light that is almost like daylight, pick a mirror that uses LED bulbs. They will be fitted all around the edges of the mirror. Once you press the switch, the bulbs will light up. Incandescent and fluorescent bulbs are fine, too. However, they don’t compare to LED in terms of efficiency and beauty of light.  These are cheaper options though.

As you embark on a journey to find the best lighted makeup mirror, consider the above-mentioned points. Always focus on the quality more than price. For this reason, prior to buying a mirror, you should read product reviews. If possible, locate related forums and blogs and ask specific questions about a given mirror.
